Privacy Policy

How AJS Electrical Services collects, uses and looks after your personal information, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 8 November 2026

If you have contacted us, asked for a quote, had work done by us or visited our website, this policy explains what happens to your personal information. It sets out what we collect, why we use it, who handles it for us, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

The short version

  • We collect the details you send us through our contact form, by phone, by email or on WhatsApp, so we can reply to you.

  • Optional analytics cookies are only used if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.

  • Squarespace (our website host), Namecheap (our email provider) and Google (spam protection on our contact form) handle some of this information for us.

  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, and you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

1. Who we are

AJS Electrical Services provides electrical services in Nutfield, Redhill, Reigate, Tadworth and surrounding areas of Surrey.

AJS Electrical Services is a trading name of Brunel Technologies Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 03718370). Registered office: Freedman House, Christopher Wren Yard, 117 High Street, Croydon CR0 1QG. Brunel Technologies Limited is responsible for your personal information (the "controller" in data protection law).

You can contact us about anything in this policy:

2. Information we collect

When you use our contact form

The form on our Contact page asks for:

  • your first name and last name (required)

  • your email address (required)

  • your message (required)

  • how you found us (required): Google, Facebook, Instagram, AI search, Checkatrade, Recommendation, Used AJS before or Other.

The form also contains a hidden field that visitors never see or fill in. It helps us spot automated spam. Google reCAPTCHA also checks the Contact page for spam (see "When you visit our website" below).

When you send the form, Squarespace, which hosts our website, stores your submission and emails it to info@ajselectricalservices.co.uk. Squarespace also adds people who send the form to our website's contacts list.

When you phone, email or message us on WhatsApp

We receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, phone number, email address, WhatsApp name and number, and details of the work you need. Messages sent through WhatsApp are also handled by WhatsApp under its own terms and privacy policy.

If you become a customer

We keep the details we need to quote for, arrange, carry out, invoice and certify the work, and any records the law requires us to keep.

When you visit our website

  • Visit records. Squarespace's Activity log records visits to our website, including your IP address, approximate location, the date and time, your browser, your operating system and the website that sent you to us.

  • Optional analytics cookies. Squarespace's visit-counting cookies are only used if you accept them in our cookie banner. If you decline, they are not set.

  • Spam protection. When you open our Contact page, Google reCAPTCHA receives information about your device and browser so it can check that the form is being used by a person and not an automated program.

Our cookie notice lists the cookies we found on this website, what they do and how long they last.

3. How we use your information and why we are allowed to

Data protection law only allows us to use personal information when we have a recognised reason, called a "lawful basis". This is what we use your information for, and the reason that applies:

  • Replying to your enquiry, discussing work and giving you a quote (your name, contact details and message): taking steps you ask for before entering a contract.

  • Arranging, carrying out and invoicing work you agree to (customer and job records): performing our contract with you.

  • Keeping records the law requires, such as accounts and electrical certificates: legal obligation.

  • Understanding how people find us (your answer to "How did you find us?"): legitimate interests, knowing which ways of finding us work.

  • Keeping the website and contact form secure and free of spam (visit records, the hidden anti-spam field and reCAPTCHA checks): legitimate interests, running a secure website.

  • Counting visits so we can see which pages are useful (Squarespace analytics cookies): your consent, given in the cookie banner.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your interests and expect the use to be one you would reasonably expect.

We don't sell your information and we don't use it for advertising.

4. Cookies

Our website uses necessary cookies to stay secure and to remember your cookie choice. These are always on.

Optional analytics cookies help us understand visits to the website. They are only used if you accept them. You can accept, decline or choose in the cookie banner, and change your mind at any time with the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

The full list of cookies, with their purposes and how long they last, is in our cookie notice.

5. Who handles your information

These organisations handle personal information for us:

  • Squarespace hosts our website. It stores contact form submissions and our website contacts list, sends form notifications by email, keeps the Activity log and provides our website statistics.

  • Google provides reCAPTCHA spam protection on our Contact page.

  • Namecheap provides our email service (Namecheap Private Email) for info@ajselectricalservices.co.uk. Contact form notifications and emails you send us are stored on its servers.

  • WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there. WhatsApp handles those messages under its own terms and privacy policy.

  • Our website support provider has administrator access to our Squarespace website, so it can see contact form submissions, our website contacts list and website statistics while it maintains the website.

We only share your information with anyone else where it is needed to carry out your job, or where the law requires it.

6. Information sent outside the UK

Some of our providers store or process information in the United States.

  • Squarespace: Squarespace, Inc. is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which UK law recognises as a safeguard for transfers to certified US organisations.

  • Google: Google LLC is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

  • Namecheap: Namecheap says its Private Email servers are in Phoenix, in the United States.

7. How long we keep information

  • Visit records (Activity log): Squarespace shows visit records in the Activity log for 7 days.

  • Your cookie choice: remembered for 30 days. Analytics cookie lifetimes are listed in our cookie notice.

  • Contact form submissions, our website contacts list, emails and enquiries that don't lead to work: kept only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted.

  • Customer and job records, invoices and certificates: kept for as long as the law requires, for example tax rules, and for as long as they are needed for the work we did, such as questions about it later.

8. Do you have to give us your information?

  • To send the contact form, you need to give your name, email address, a message and how you found us. Without these the form can't be sent. If you'd rather not use the form, you can call or email us instead.

  • Without a way to contact you, we can't reply to your enquiry or give you a quote.

  • If you become a customer, we need the information required to carry out the work, invoice it and keep any records the law requires. Without it we may not be able to do the work.

  • Analytics cookies are optional. Declining them doesn't change how the website works.

9. Automated decisions

We don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing, including profiling, that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Our contact form uses two automated spam checks: the hidden field described in section 2 and Google reCAPTCHA. If you have trouble sending the form, you can call or email us instead.

10. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you

  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

  • ask us to delete your information

  • ask us to limit how we use your information

  • object to how we use your information, including where we rely on legitimate interests

  • ask us to send your information to you or another organisation, where this applies

  • withdraw your consent at any time where we rely on it, for example for analytics cookies, using the cookie settings link.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our services, our website or the way we handle personal information changes, and show the date at the top.
